So when the narcissists discard you and they come tripping back, it is usually because they realize that you may still have something that they want or can benefit from, and they feel entitled to it, and they also expect you to take them back. This is why going no contact or ignoring the narcissist is vital for your survival. Because if a narcissist discarded you, they will think that they can come back whenever they need to.
And if you are not recovered strong enough or understand what you are dealing with, you may fall prey, again and again, believing that they are coming back because they love you but that they just need help, which is actually so far from the truth. The narcissist knows only how to use and abuse; they only want to take, take, and take some more. What a narcissist gives to someone is never really worth [ __ ], and it surely doesn’t make up for all the hell that they put you through.

When you escape the grasp of a narcissist, you need to strengthen your defenses, having the time out to heal and understand what the hell just happened is very important. Starting another relationship too soon after can do you more harm than good. In the worst cases, you could end up with another narcissist or even go back with the same narcissist. So for the very fact that the narcissist is likely to come back, one needs to be in a better place physically, mentally, and spiritually to counteract their advances and shut them down and out once and for all.
But to conclude, whichever way the discard went, whether you discarded a narcissist or a narcissist discarded you, their return means further destruction. The narcissists returning means they are either coming back to take revenge on you or to benefit from any changes and success you are now having in your life. The narcissist cares about no one, the narcissist misses no one; they only miss what they were getting from you.
If they can get that thing without you, they would. But, unfortunately for the narcissists, they need people; we are the answer to their deepest desires and they hate us for it. Allowing a narcissist back into your life should not be an option, as they can never be trusted and your downfall is the only thing that they are after.
