4. Narcissists may try to hurt themselves to make the empath feel guilty.
Narcissists usually do this as a last resort, but they may repeatedly mention it to the empath. By trying to hurt themselves, narcissists will make the empath feel guilty. They will try to make the empath feel responsible should anything happen to them. Empaths should be very careful when this happens, should a narcissist actually commit self-harm, almost anyone will feel guilty and responsible.
Empaths should try to seek external help for the narcissist, but they should be very careful not to get caught up in the narcissist’s ploy in manipulating them. There is a delicate balance to this that the empath must be aware of lest the empath will be trapped in a toxic relationship again.

3. Narcissists will act sweet and caring.
One of the most famous weapons in the narcissist arsenal is lying through their teeth. They can easily feign affection, regret, and care towards other people. The narcissists will use these weapons to try and lure back the empath or try to make the empath stay. Being wooed by a narcissist can be one of the best feelings in the world. The empath will be showered with gifts, compliments, and enticing promises. The empath should be aware that these are all lies and deceit, and that the narcissist has no plans on ever being consistent with this weak behaviour.
