8. Narcissists will try to get their attention in other ways.
Apart from being assertive, narcissists can get very stubborn. When empaths start acting cold towards them and refrain from giving them the attention that narcissists are used to, narcissists will try to get their attention in other ways; this may include getting overly clingy, getting overprotective, wishing to hang out with empath all the time, and yes, they may even start conflict from the most minuscule things just to get the empath’s attention.
This can be very stressful on the empath, as narcissists will get very invasive of the personal space and time of the empath. They may act out in public and even make grand gestures just to get the empath’s attention. Narcissists are generally charming people. They can easily sell themselves and be likable. If an empath dares to take the bait, the empath will then be trapped in a very toxic relationship that can be very hard to break; a narcissist will do everything that he can to keep his control and power over the empath.

If the empath is not careful and has not previously oriented his or her family, things could get really ugly as friction between the empath and his or her family could arise. The bottom line is that it is always the empath’s decision whether or not he or she will take the narcissist back. However, there should be no second chances. Do you know of people who don’t deserve a second chance?
