Today I’m going to be talking about what are the basic red flags to be watching out for to determine if someone in your life is a narcissist, and who/what to watch out for in the future. This article is only going to give you a really simple basic formula and information about red flags because, honestly, there are a million red flags to be watching out for. And many times, you can get information overload as far as what to be watching out for, which can be incredibly confusing and frustrating.
So for this article, I just wanted to simplify all the information and give everyone a very simple basic formula to determine if you are with someone who is a narcissist as well as who to be cautious of in the future. It’s a formula that everyone can use really without big part without having to learn a bunch of different behavioral patterns and demeanors or terms and definitions.
The formula I’m going to give you I learned from Dr. Craig Malkin, he is a Harvard professor and an expert in narcissistic personality disorder. He wrote a really wonderful book called: “Rethinking Narcissism, The Secret to Recognizing and Coping with Narcissists, and in it, he gives everybody a very simple formula that’s easy to remember which I love, especially for people who haven’t learned anything about narcissism yet or very little and are just now beginning to learn.
I think that this little formula he gives is a wonderful tool also that we can teach our teenage kids or young adult children because it’s easy to understand and it’s easy to remember. So in this book he advises people to be watching out for what he calls the three E’s:
