A narcissist doesn’t want you to realize you’re strong because your ignorance is bliss for them. Your strength threatens their power and control over you, and they know you are way stronger than them but want you to feel the opposite. Why? Because narcissists, like parasites, thrive on your strength, sucking it out slowly and making you feel weak and dependent. They want you to rely on them for validation and self-worth so they can feel important. But when you realize your own strength and listen to your intuition, you become unsusceptible to their manipulation. You see through them and realize they kept you small to feel bigger.

This gives a massive blow to the narcissist’s ego as they rely on your insecurities and induced feelings of weakness to maintain their power in the relationship. Furthermore, a narcissist fears that if you realize your own strength and become independent, you will eventually leave the relationship altogether, making them more codependent than a co-dependent him or herself. It’s vital to recognize your power and self-worth even in the face of the narcissist’s attempts to undermine it. By acknowledging your own value, you will begin to take steps to break free from the cycle of abuse and regain control of your life.
