Dangerous driving, substance abuse, and binge eating are all activities that can create lasting effects.
Impulsivity is the action taken that critical thinking plays no part in the decision-making abilities of the individual. During these periods of impulsivity, an individual who suffers from BPD will increase the ability to control their train of thought. Managing their thought process is the most significant cause of this impulsivity.
BPD creates an unstable thinking process, and treatment is essential to retrain the individual on proper thinking and behaviors. The potential is available for improvements with the appropriate treatment and medication management to be successful with the individual’s dedication and a solid support system.

BPD creates a decrease in the self-image they perceive on who they are and the overwhelming fear that everybody will leave them at one point. Suicidal thoughts, regardless of threat or action, are often a cry for help, with self-mutilating being an unproductive coping mechanism. The thought process surrounding suicide requires immediate attention because acting upon that threat is potentially a risk.
BPD and suicide have a stigma attached to both, there is a lack of understanding that surrounds them both. A borderline personality disorder is a complex mental illness when it’s the individual’s only battle, but that is generally not the case.
