6. They want you to feel that they are perfect by showing gratitude.
Narcissists are perfectionists who will never be content with anything. In their pursuit of the ideal of perfection, they will be destructive and highly critical of everything around them especially the victim, since they lack compassion and acceptance of themselves and the world as they are. Until the victim realizes what is really going on, the victim will strive for perfection in order to be loved by the narcissist.
5. They show you gratitude because they want you to believe that it’s your fault.
We all know that narcissists never apologize for their actions; this can lead to even more complicated and conflicting outcomes. Although it may not appear so, narcissists also have difficulties. They go through a lot of pain because they are constantly frustrated and spiteful. They are constantly on a battlefield striving to get the biggest gun and the most impressive prize because of their low self-esteem. Their desire to appear perfect, efficient, and vain often leads them directly into a reality that does not accept such behavior.
When someone requests an apology for a specific incident, a narcissist will make them believe it was their fault, why? Because they don’t understand it, because they don’t see things the same way, or because apologizing will make people believe they’re weak or ignorant. A narcissist can turn the tables on you in the blink of an eye without you recognizing it. Remember that narcissists are expert manipulators. As a result, you may find yourself apologizing to them instead.
