The mountain of lies that the Narcissist has created to hide behind can all be broken down with the Truth. The only issue that remains is whether or not that truth will be believed. And this is where a major stumbling block appears. Because unless you have proof, be it video, audio, or some other tangible proof apart from it being your word against the Narcissist, the truth is just going to fall on deaf ears.
People always ask: why is the Covert Narcissist, especially, so nice to outsiders? It has a lot to do with the fact that the outsiders are the ones who will judge between you and them. So, if they can convince everyone else that they are sweet, helpful, and kind, you become just that one voice that already cannot be trusted because of what the Narcissist has been saying about you behind your back.

Also, we cannot forget that Narcissists are brilliant actors and can talk their way out of a lot of tight situations. This is why getting counseling with them usually doesn’t work and they out-talk you and charm their way through those sessions putting the therapist under their spell. And this is why it is so important to have proof. Because what also happens with Narcissistic Abuse is that the Narcissist can make you lose your voice, as in the confidence to speak up and out and also doubt your sanity.
