From my experience, it will depend a little bit on the type of narcissist that they are. But overall, what this means is they will turn into the most severe and horrendous version of their worst self. So for example, if they are a covert narcissist and they are bitter and always portray themselves as a victim, this will only get worse as they get older. If the narcissist uses rage in order to keep control over other people and make themselves feel superior, then you can count on the rages getting more extreme, more frequent, and more severe as they get older.
As I mentioned, the narcissist isn’t interested in any other version of reality other than the false one they have created. And when that feels threatened or is in jeopardy, it can feel like a life or death situation. As they age, they are presented with realities that no amount of denial could completely smother. This is beyond uncomfortable. It’s agonizing to them. They experience a loss of control that they have likely never experienced before.
