- So the first thing you’ll notice when a narcissist is hurt is that they will retaliate. And this is another reason why I don’t recommend actively going for revenge because you’re starting a battle, and where does it end? But I can tell you that if you did not hurt their fragile ego, they would not bother retaliating. There’s always going to be something in it for them, and in this case, it’s revenge.
- So another sign that a narcissist is hurt is that they will cut someone off. If you’re in a relationship with a narcissist and you have hurt them, they may discard you for that. But I want to be clear, they may also discard you for any other reason, just because it’s Tuesday or if they feel like it. So it’s not necessarily a clear sign that you have hurt them. But if you notice other signs along with the discard, then you may have hurt the narcissist. But this often happens in friendships with narcissists and in family relationships. If you do anything to hurt them, these people will cut you off. They do not give second chances. And it’s funny because they expect a whole lot of second and third and 25th chances, right? But they do not give one. They do not give one second chance. If you hurt a narcissist, and it could be as simple as saying no to plans, if they’re feeling wounded, they will cut you off without a second thought.

- And another sign that a narcissist is hurt is that they’re engaging in a smear campaign. So a narcissist will very much use the smear campaign for revenge. And again, they have to be getting something out of this. They want to see that they’re hurting you. And if they don’t see that they’re hurting you, they’re going to move on to something else eventually.
