4. You Are Sensitive to Crowds and May Be Easily Overwhelmed.
Studies have shown that the brain wiring of empaths allows them to tap into an access panel of emotional awareness. There are no definitive diagnostic criteria for identifying the empaths among us, but if you are one, you take one of the stresses of the people you live with. For example, if you are in a crowd the, smells and sounds could be so overwhelming that you won’t go to another live venue despite the urging of friends. If you can help it, you are knowingly going to shopping malls and public places when the least number of people are abroad.
5. You Are Everyone’s Sounding Board.
Empaths are sponges that absorb energy. People are drawn to them inexplicably. Someone you have just met finds it easy to share anecdotes they reserve for lifelong friends. Empaths are blessed with the capability to soothe people and make them feel that they can interact on a meaningful level. How fortunate that empaths are also outstanding active listeners. Look back on lengthy conversations you have had in the past, were you talking more or listening more? Playing the listening role is almost second nature to empaths.
6. You Are Your Worst Critic.
Empaths often find themselves living in a garden of roses. Life is fragrant and beautiful, but there are thorns at every turn. Another thorn on the side of an empath is their excellent ability to criticize themselves. That inner voice is never quiet, and even the littlest thing becomes a major deal in that bubble. Of course, not all empaths entertain this inner voice, but many remain vulnerable to self-criticism. Sometimes, the one person who keeps insisting that you are overly sensitive is you.
7. You Have a Strong Intuition.
Being intuitive is being attuned to the energy of every living creature in the immediate vicinity. The most intuitive can extend this sensitivity beyond time and space and have the paranormal ability to sense what another person is feeling from a distance. Intuition is not about accurate, surface level-impressions- This keen insight is bone-deep. There are different types of empaths, but all share the quality of having a strong intuition.
