Number 1: Narcissists always talk about themselves and what they’ve done.
One of the warning signs that you should be careful of is when someone talks only about themselves and what they’ve done. Do they talk about the weather, sports, or the latest movie they saw? Nope! They want to tell you how amazing their new car is or got a promotion at work.
You can also tell if someone is a narcissist because they’ll often interrupt you when you’re talking, they don’t care about what you have to say; they just want to be heard because they have an inflated sense of self-importance they think they’re better than everyone else and deserve more attention than others. You might believe in their play and acknowledge that they are the best. Still, you’ll eventually realize that it will be exhausting to do.
Number 2: Narcissists use flattery to get what they want but never mean it.
If you’ve ever been around a narcissist, you know that they can be a little weird. They’ll give you compliments over the top and then turn around and treat you like dirt. They might even go so far as to deny that they ever said anything nice about you. while it may seem odd at first glance, the fact is that narcissists do not have any real feelings toward anyone else; they only care about themselves and their own needs and desires.
This is because narcissists use flattery as a tool for manipulation. They are always looking for ways to get themselves ahead and flattery is one way. Because of this, they will often tell people how great they are just to get whatever they want from them. If someone is always complimenting you and trying to make you feel better about yourself, be wary! Narcissists could be sizing you up and figuring out how best to use that information against you later.
